Evolution of Cloud

Thanks for the comment, Chris. We've noticed that people trading in colo for Amazon have laid off their systems administrators... and then turned around and hired Amazon administrators! AppLogic can considerably reduce the administration load (which is why we chose it) for both the service provider and the customer. Especially in our case, since the majority of our customers have us administer AppLogic for them, turning us into an outsourced cloud-IT shop.

We believe that to replace the enterprise datacenter, cloud technology is moving away from the replace-bare-iron approach that Amazon is using towards providing more value, measured by savings beyond just hardware replacement. The current AppLogic is an important step in that direction, but you can bet the folks in Aliso Viejo - as well as other companies, of course - are going to keep raising the level of abstraction of the cloud. ENKI busily working to enhance our offering to reduce administration overhead both for us and our customers. - enovikoff

Great Article.

Thank you for this great article discussing the very reasons I chose to use the AppLogic grid of appliances over a year ago. Though Amazon ec2 has gotten a lot better over the last year, the sheer scalability factor has to be manually engineered into the product by an engineer in in the know. The AppLogic stack comes packaged to scale with little or no headache. - Chris Danielson
