ENKI versus GoGrid

Can you tell me what the major differences are between ENKI's services and GoGrid?

1. Our goal is your business's success, not simply providing computing.   Because we are focused on your success as a partner, we offer personalized service, fully managed Cloud Computing with system administration, and additional services such as cloud migration, remote monitoring and backup to provide you a complete solution to your computing needs. If your application isn't working in our cloud, we take it personally.
2. ENKI includes hardware firewalls with optional IDS/IPS (intrustion detection/protection) and DDOS protection coupled with best-in-class low-latency bandwidth.  We will compare our bandwidth to anyone, we're that sure its the best.
3. Our resource rates are similar to those of GoGrid, but your bandwidth costs are significantly lower at ENKI. Because GoGrid doesn't offer control of the amount of CPU you get, you may get more for your money at ENKI.
4. We can manage the provisioning of your VPDC for you, instead of GoGrid's self-service approach.  This way we can guarantee your application will run when you deploy.  Self-service is available if you wish to use it.
5. We both have SAS70 certified data centers.
6. We have similar overall reliability with auto-restart capability. ENKI achieves slightly higher reliability of approximately 3-and-three-quarters (99.975%) uptime or higher.  Additionally, ENKI ensures against hardware failures, and GoGrid does not (read the fine print!)  GoGrid offers you a slice of a physical computer, along with all the failures and problems that computer has, including loss of local storage.  ENKI can guarantee the uptime of your VM independent of the underlying hardware because our hardware is automatically replaced when it fails, within minutes.
7. ENKI can deploy your application into a wider geography: through our partnership with GTT and Abiquo, we can deploy new cloud points of presence into data centers around the globe.
8. Because we use the standard VMWare technology, you are not locked in to ENKI.  Should you decide to switch vendors, you can easily migrate your application to another VMWare-based service provider.  Or, you can supplement your cloud computing with a VMWare installation inside your company, or even a VMWare cloud inside your company which we can install and manage (subject to minimum purchase requirements.)

Reliability	Applications are restarted automatically when hardware fails.  Restart time is not provided.  GoGrid has a "10,000%" reliability guarantee, however you must apply for the rebates and they may be denied.	VMWare will restart a failed server's software on a new server within 2 minutes, typical.   ENKI offers a 10x money-back guarantee for unplanned outages exceeding our 99.95% uptime guarantee, so you know we’re up when you’re down.  With appropriate automation, your application uptime can exceed 99.9% without any human intervention.  All data is stored in a highly available SAN separate from the server, so the chances of data loss are negligible and your data is immediately available to the replacement hardware.  Additional backup services are available.
Security	If you want security, you will have to install a software firewall and maintain it yourself.  Since security is applied at the server, DDOS attacks can paralyze your servers.	Fully isolated Virtual Private Data Centers provide the same degree of anonymity and isolation as physically separate hardware.  Hardware firewalls with available active Intrusion Detection/ Intrusion protect against hacking, viruses and DOS attacks.  Defense-in-depth with optional software firewalls.  Multiple gigabit connections to the internet backbone mean DDOS attacks are absorbed by the firewalls, not your application.
Pricing	$0.19/GB-Hr with discounts for prepaid plans.	$0.167/GB-Hr, with tiered marginal discounts dropping rapidly to 70% for committed usage levels at high volumes.  Prices drop rapidly because we want to reward you for growth.  You don't have to pay in advance - ever!

Performance	GoGrid servers are limited to 8GB.  The amount of CPU per server is not specified. Recent feedback from our customers and from GoGrid sales indicates that CPU performance may vary between 2 and 3GHz per core depending on how busy their cloud is.  This is called "overallocation" in the cloud industry: it may reduce prices, but you also pay in unquantifiable performance.	With PrimaCloud, you can expand from 1/10th of a server to tens of servers, and memory can be expanded to 24GB, or beyond on request.  You can choose how much CPU to allocate to each instance and we will always allocate exactly what you request.  Our high- performance 8- and 12-core servers handle the toughest loads.  Unlike many cloud services, ENKI has designed PrimaCloud to resist resource overloads caused by other customers’ usage that can slow performance at peak times.   80 Gbit/second Infiniband interconnects between servers and to storage won’t slow down with loads from other users.   High spindle-count Sun Open Storage SANs with optional SSD caching provide enterprise-grade storage performance.
Storage	Storage is tied to instance size, included in price.	Storage is allocated independent of instance size.  Use as much as you need, to 5TB and beyond, while paying only for what you use, with tiered marginal quantity discounts available.   Data is stored in Sun Open Storage SANs which are highly redundant and offer high performance SSD-backed storage on request for your transaction and database-intensive apps.
Network	While GoGrid guarantees network performance, they limited to a single point of presence and cannot bring your application closer to your customers.	Multiple gigabit connections, to multiple carriers and location at MAE-West network meeting point ensure best-in-class network performance.  We will compare our network to anyone.  Additionally, multiple points of presence let you locate your service close to your customers.
Compatibility	Specific architectural and security policies interfere with certain applications.  Your application will work best if it is developed for GoGrid.	Close to perfect.  VMWare was designed for compatibility.  The virtual servers in your VPDC function much like physical servers, but with more reliability and scalability. ENKI does not restrict the type of network traffic in your VPDC.
Controllability	Self-service, except for network gateways/security, which must be set up on request.	Choice of self service (including for network setup) or PrimaCare managed service for all VPDC setup and configuration ensures that your application runs right the first time.  Root logins available to virtual servers in your VPDC.  Operations Services plans eliminate the need to log in or know anything about the server.  Your VPDC can scale automatically in response to changing load conditions.
Observability/Monitoring	If you want to know what's going on inside your servers, you must provide your own monitoring. Deployment	You figure out how to deploy and manage your application.  You have to be a system admin, understanding everything about operating GoGrid and your servers, as well as the software on them. Load Balancing	GoGrid offers hardware load balancing.	ENKI supports any software load balancer for ultimate flexibility in supporting a variety of methods, including software appliances such as NetScaler from Citrix, and other vendors. Vendor Lock-In	GoGrid only, but VPDC paradigm promises ability to migrate to other data centers.
